Hello everyone,
I am pleased to announce that BCcampus has established an agreement with Creative Commons to offer a 15% discount for staff and faculty working at post-secondary institutions in British Columbia to take any of the Creative Commons certificate courses. The CC Certificate courses provide a study of the public domain, copyright, Creative Commons licenses, and what it means to engage in our global, shared, commons of knowledge and culture. <https://certificates.creativecommons.org/> Learn more about the CC Certificate program.<https://certificates.creativecommons.org/>
The next set of courses start June 10, but the discount will be available for future course offerings as well. Register for one of the June courses here<https://www.classy.org/event/2024-cc-certificate-course-registration/e50032…>.
Directions for the BCcampus discount:
1.
Click on the CC Certificate registration<https://www.classy.org/event/2024-cc-certificate-course-registration/e500320> link.
2.
Select the course you would like to take.

Curious for more information from a course participant perspective? See what people say about the courses, including this great quote from Craig Finlay<https://certificates.creativecommons.org/about/testimonials/> below. If you’d like to chat with a course graduate directly, contact learning@creativecommons, and they’ll connect you!
“If at all possible, take this course. It’s probably the most valuable and rewarding professional development training I’ve done since becoming an academic librarian in 2013. I thought I had a pretty decent grasp of the ins and outs of Creative Commons before taking the course, and the difference in my knowledge and skillset now compared to then is night and day. In my experience, the heavy majority of faculty don’t have a great idea of what CC is, how it works, or what it can do for them. Being a campus resource for CC has raised my profile at the university, which has done wonders for work building and running an OER program. As soon as I started helping faculty with individual reference consultations about CC, word started getting around. Now I’m getting faculty I’ve never met emailing me to ask for advice on a CC question, because they heard about me from a peer. Money well spent.” – Stephen Craig Finlay

Greetings Community & Technical College Open Education Friends:
The European Training Foundation<https://www.etf.europa.eu/en> together with UNESCO-UNEVOC<https://unevoc.unesco.org/home/> are working to promote the use of OER in TVET (Technical Vocational Education and Training) namely by collecting stories of use of OER within vocational education, professional higher education, and adult learning (formal and informal).
They will then organize webinars (as they did last year<https://openspace.etf.europa.eu/blog-posts/webinar-report-open-educational-…>) to share these stories globally, with the aim to foster adoption of OER and open approaches within TVET through awareness raising and knowledge exchange.
If you would like to share your important open education initiatives and practices where OER are being used within TVET sectors please send information to Fabio Nascimbeni (fabio.nascimbeni(a)etf.europa.eu<mailto:fabio.nascimbeni@etf.europa.eu>) and Max Ehlers (m.ehlers(a)unesco.org<mailto:m.ehlers@unesco.org>).

Introduction to Marketing
Adapted by Pamela Ip
Introduction to Marketing teaches the experience and process of actually doing marketing - not just the vocabulary. It carries five dominant themes throughout in order to expose students to marketing in today's environment: Service dominant logic, sustainability, ethics and social responsibility, global coverage, and metrics.

Kwantlen Polytechnic University ► Where thought meets action
We at Kwantlen Polytechnic University respectfully acknowledge that we work, live, and study in a region that overlaps with the unceded, traditional and ancestral lands of the xwməθkwəyə̓ m (Musqueam), qi̓ cə̓ y̓ (Katzie), SEMYOME (Semiahmoo), scə̓ waθən (Tsawwassen), qiqéyt (Qayqayt), Kwikwetlem, and the lands of the qw̓ ɑ:nƛ̓ ə̓ n̓ (Kwantlen) First Nation, which gifted its name to this university.

Dear colleagues,
This is a reminder that BCcampus is offering sponsorship money to those wishing to host events at B.C. and Yukon post-secondary institutions for Open Education Week 2024.
Open Education Week<https://oeweek.oeglobal.org/> is an internationally recognized week for raising awareness of and celebrating achievements in open education. In honour of this, BCcampus has released a call for proposals for open education events hosted at post-secondary institutions in B.C. or the Yukon during the week of March 4 to 8, 2024.
Examples of events that could qualify for a sponsorship include a workshop on open licences, an award ceremony for local open champions, and an awareness campaign event by a student union about high textbook costs.
Read the call for proposals<https://bccampus.ca/grants-calls-for-proposals/call-for-proposals-open-educ…> for more details on how to apply for up to $1000 in sponsorship funding. Ten sponsorships are available, and the call closes at 11:59 p.m. Pacific on January 26.

Hello,
Open educational resources (OER) are teaching and learning materials licensed to be freely owned, shared, and in most cases, modified. While the development of OER is rooted in the belief that education should be equitably distributed, the potential to develop, create, and share resources within Western understandings of knowledge and ownership of information, can run counter to Indigenous perspectives, traditions, and information practices.
Our research study seeks to centre the Indigenous perspective on open education principles and processes, with a focus on OER development in Canadian academic institutions. We are hoping you can support our study by participating and/or sharing the following information and participant invitations.
Attached is a social media package, including a blog post outlining the research collaboration. Please feel free to share these items through your organization's communication channels.
Below is a call for participation that can be shared via email.
Thank you for your support in spreading the word about this call for research participants. If you have any questions, please contact Erin Fields (Principal Investigator) at erin.fields(a)ubc.ca.
Sincerely,
Erin Fields on behalf of the Research Team
