Hello everyone,
I am pleased to announce that BCcampus has established an agreement with Creative Commons to offer a 15% discount for staff and faculty working at post-secondary institutions in British Columbia to take any of the Creative Commons certificate courses. The CC Certificate courses provide a study of the public domain, copyright, Creative Commons licenses, and what it means to engage in our global, shared, commons of knowledge and culture. <https://certificates.creativecommons.org/> Learn more about the CC Certificate program.<https://certificates.creativecommons.org/>

Curious for more information from a course participant perspective? See what people say about the courses, including this great quote from Craig Finlay<https://certificates.creativecommons.org/about/testimonials/> below. If you’d like to chat with a course graduate directly, contact learning@creativecommons, and they’ll connect you!
“If at all possible, take this course. It’s probably the most valuable and rewarding professional development training I’ve done since becoming an academic librarian in 2013. I thought I had a pretty decent grasp of the ins and outs of Creative Commons before taking the course, and the difference in my knowledge and skillset now compared to then is night and day. In my experience, the heavy majority of faculty don’t have a great idea of what CC is, how it works, or what it can do for them. Being a campus resource for CC has raised my profile at the university, which has done wonders for work building and running an OER program. As soon as I started helping faculty with individual reference consultations about CC, word started getting around. Now I’m getting faculty I’ve never met emailing me to ask for advice on a CC question, because they heard about me from a peer. Money well spent.” – Stephen Craig Finlay

Dear colleagues,
The Driving OER Sustainability for Student Success (DOERS3)<https://www.doers3.org/about.html> Research Working Group is examining course marking language for OER across provinces, states, and systems to explore possible standardization of language that can be used to improve data collection and overall understanding of related definitions. They have devised the survey below, which should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. If you could fill it out, DOERS3 would be greatly appreciative of your time.
If you have questions, please contact Liliana Diaz, member of the DOERS3 Research Working Group, at ldiaz(a)wiche.edu<mailto:ldiaz@wiche.edu>.
