Dear colleagues,
BCcampus has recently released an expression of interest regarding the development of open courses<https://bccampus.ca/grants-calls-for-proposals/expression-of-interest-devel…>.
BCcampus would like to add further open courses to the open online course collection<https://collection.bccampus.ca/> that align with open textbooks currently in the B.C. Open Textbook Collection. We are looking for B.C. applicants who have developed, adapted, or adopted an open textbook in our B.C. Open Textbook Collection to develop a new open course, or adapt an existing open course, that accompanies the textbook.
This expression of interest is for individuals, groups, or institutions and their representatives (e.g., faculty members, articulation committees, teaching and learning centres, libraries, and OER working groups) in B.C. and the Yukon that are interested in developing or adapting open courses aligned with open textbooks available in the B.C. Open Textbook Collection<https://open.bccampus.ca/browse-our-collection/find-open-textbooks/>.
Note that there is no deadline for applications, as this is an ongoing call.
Estimated completion time: Four months
Grant amount: Up to $8000 per course. Three options:
* $2000 for an existing course that requires little modification
* $5000 for an adaption or major revision of an existing course
* $8000 for development of a new course
Applications will be evaluated by an internal review committee based on the following criteria:
* Experience: Applicants have experience developing OER in B.C. post-secondary education. Preference will be given to applicants who have already developed or adapted an open textbook in the B.C. Open Textbook Collection.
* Plan for timeline of completion of work.
* A realistic budget for the scope of work

Dear colleagues,
A reminder that all Canadian faculty, librarians, bookstore staff, and students are invited to participate in the Canadian Distribution of OpenStax hardcover textbooks<https://sfu-bccampus.cmail20.com/t/d-l-qcjdty-ehldhkki-jl/> survey, ending on April 30. All responses are anonymous. Final results will be shared out later this year.
BCcampus in partnership with Vretta<https://www.vretta.com/ordering.html> and the Manitoba Open Textbook Initiative<https://openedmb.ca/> is surveying Canadian post-secondary institutions about their knowledge about/adoption of/suggested improvements to the distribution of OpenStax’s hardbound books in Canada<https://bccampus.ca/2021/02/23/hard-back-openstax-books-come-to-canada/>, and the usage of and need for printed open textbooks in general.

Dear colleagues,
I am writing to let you know about online office hours offered by BCcampus to educators in need of support shifting from face-to-face to online instruction. We are offering three sessions this week, the details of which are included below.
Working Together, Learning Together
Invitation: To educators and anyone doing the work of “pivoting online” who would like to drop in with questions, and/or to hear others’ challenges and solutions.
Who is hosting: BCcampus — a passionate group of instructional designers, learning technologists, administrators, and more!
And why… We feel the enormous challenge you are facing today and in the weeks to come. We want to offer support, particularly to institutions and educators without access to a large teaching and learning support team.
Topics include (but are not limited to):
* Human Support/Communications
* Exams Online
* Experiential Learning Online
Expectation setting: We cannot offer or replace institution-specific supports, but we CAN talk through challenges like:
* I have an in-class final exam worth 30% – what could I do instead?
* My students are freaking out and I can’t keep up with the messages – what can I try?
* I want to do a live online session but I’ve never done that before – what can I do?
* I have this assignment … I’m not sure how to do it online – do you have ideas?
Join us for one or both sessions:
* March 24, 2020 @ 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm<https://urls.bccampus.ca/6rg>
* March 27, 2020 @ 10:00 am – 11:00 am<https://urls.bccampus.ca/6rh>
Starting at ground zero?
Join us for the super-duper basics of online learning AKA no dumb questions session.This drop-in is for folx who are completely new to the online teaching world. There are no dumb questions. We will try and cover the basics of online learning while giving you the space to ask your questions. March 25, 2020 @ 12:30 pm – 1:15 pm<https://urls.bccampus.ca/6ri>
