If anyone needs urgent access to a book in the collection while the collection is unavailable, please email opentext(a)bccampus.ca with the name of the book and we will get you a copy. A notice on the collection will give the same instructions.

In December 2015 Daniel Heath Justice began a Twitter campaign to share the names of Indigenous writers. The reason for his efforts was to: “…push back against the frequent assumptions that our literary history is any less complex, robust, or diverse than that of other peoples (Daniel Heath Justice, Why Indigenous Literatures Matter?<https://www.wlupress.wlu.ca/Books/W/Why-Indigenous-Literatures-Matter2>)
In solidarity with his efforts, Honouring Indigenous Writers<https://hiw.open.ubc.ca/> is a yearly event to increase awareness and coverage of Indigenous literature.
This year the organizing team has put together a schedule of free events and activities designed for virtual participation throughout the month of March 2022. The events include:

An editorial team based at UBC Okanagan is putting out a call for chapter proposals for an open-access book about open pedagogy and the open education movement. This book will centre Indigenous perspectives and ways of knowing with regard to open education.
Chapter proposals can be for essays, research papers, or case studies between 4,000 and 6,000 words, excluding references. Proposals are due March 15, 2022.
Submit chapter proposals to Donna Langille (donna.langille(a)ubc.ca) and include the following elements:
* Working title
* Abstract (max. 200 words)
* Type of contribution (research, theoretical/exploratory essay, case study)
* Keywords (3–6 keywords)
* Contributor information, including full name, complete institution name, primary email address, and contributor bio (bio is max. 100 words)
More information about the project, including a more detailed publishing timeline, can be found in the attached PDF. The publication target date is summer 2023.
