Hello,
Please excuse the cross posting but I want to reach out to those who are not on the canadaoer listserv.
The BC Open Education Librarians group is planning an event for Open Education Week<https://oeweek.oeglobal.org/> March 6 – 10, 2023 We are planning a session on how courses can be marked as having no textbook cost in their registration system. We know from Marking Open and Affordable Courses<https://uta.pressbooks.pub/markingopenandaffordablecourses/> that KPU does but we would like to know from others in B.C. if they are doing the same or even in the planning process. It would also be useful to know what registration system you use.
Thank you - your input and time is much appreciated.
Best,
Debra.

I am grateful to learn and work on the unceded traditional and ancestral lands of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the territories of the q̓íc̓əy̓ (Katzie), qʼʷa:n̓ƛʼən̓ (Kwantlen), kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem), xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), and qiqéyt (Qayqayt) First Nations.
Hello BCOEL,
Announcing a Call for Open Content: Digital Literacy which we are approaching our networks and communities with first. Looking forward to hearing from some of you, because if anyone knows much of this content and how to curate it….:). Leva
Call for Open Content: Digital Literacy
In partnership with the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills and Training (AEST) and the Digital Learning Advisory Committee (DLAC), a group of individuals with deep and broad expertise and experience from across the sector, BCcampus is pleased to be leading in the development of an open collection of materials to support Digital Literacy in B.C. post-secondary.
This collection will be high quality, openly licensed courses and resources to support the development of digital literacy knowledge, skills, and abilities.
We are currently seeking content submissions for the collection that fulfills the requirements of the eight areas of digital literacy thematic competencies, as identified in the AEST’s Digital Literacy Framework<https://etug.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/AEST-Digital-Learning-Strategy-C…>: ethical and legal consideration; technology supports; information literacy; digital scholarship; communication and collaboration; creation and curation; digital wellbeing; and community-based learning.
Do you have digital literacy content that will help people:
• Understand the ethics and legal implications of gathering and sharing digital information?
• Learn about the risks and benefits of having an online presence?
• Discover and choose educational software, digital tools and apps?
• Interpret and validate information?
• Use technology to collect, analyse, and share research?
• Create multimedia that can reach different audiences and share stories?
• Create healthy boundaries with technology and use digital tools to maintain well-being?
• Communicate and collaborate meaningfully with digital communities?
If the answer is “yes” to any of the above points, we would love to hear from you!
Content may be in the form of textbooks, courses or course materials, websites, videos, infographics, podcasts, book chapters, journal articles, tools or tutorials, etc.
Submissions must be openly licensed, or content an institution is willing to openly license and make shareable in the collection. Submissions will be reviewed by a group of evaluators from our sector prior to inclusion in the collection.
If you have a content submission, require more information, or would like to find out how you might assist, please contact: Leva Lee, BCcampus leva.lee(a)bccampus.ca<mailto:leva.lee@bccampus.ca> or Britt Dzioba bdzioba(a)bccampus.ca<mailto:bdzioba@bccampus.ca>
This Call for Open Content: Digital Literacy will close on December 8th, 2022

Dear colleagues,
The ETUG Fall 2022 Workshop is now open for registration.
This year's workshop is titled "Digital Literacy in Post-Secondary Education: Trends, Tools & Strategies." Digital literacy, for both instructors and students, impacts effective use of in-class or online learning delivery modes. How can digital literacy support teaching and learning for online, hybrid, and hyflex courses? And what does a student need to be digitally literate? What does an instructor need to be digitally literate?
This event will take place online from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Pacific on Friday, November 4, 2022. Registration costs $25.
View the interim program schedule<https://etug.ca/2022/10/20/fall-workshop-2022-schedule/> on ETUG's website. Register online<https://events.eply.com/2022ETUGWorkshopNov4>.

Hello All!
Registration is now OPEN<https://events.eply.com/2022ETUGWorkshopNov4> for the Fall Educational Technology Users Group Event on November 4. This year’s theme is: Digital Literacy!
[cid:image001.jpg@01D8E396.1E7DF380]
Despite the recovery from the pandemic, the number of academic programs and courses delivered in hybrid or fully online formats will likely remain high. At the same time, an increasing number of instructors are trying out HyFlex delivery — giving students options about whether they come to class or learn online. Digital literacy, for both instructors and students, impacts effective use of these delivery modes. But how can digital literacy support teaching and learning for online, hybrid, and HyFlex courses? What does a student need to be digitally literate? What does an instructor need to be digitally literate?
Hope to see you there
Amanda

This year’s Open Access Week theme is Open for Climate Justice. This focus “seeks to encourage connection and collaboration among the climate movement and the international open community. Sharing knowledge is a human right, and tackling the climate crisis requires the rapid exchange of knowledge across geographic, economic, and disciplinary boundaries” (SPARC<https://sparcopen.org/news/2022/theme-for-open-access-week-2022-open-for-cl….>). The Climate Justice and Open Research Panel, as part of the UBC Open Scholarship in Practice<https://open.ubc.ca/join-us-open-scholarship-in-practice-2021/?login> event, invites speakers to discuss their open research activities related to climate justice on topics including but not limited to 1) openness as a way to address inequities and the impacts of climate change; 2) the challenges of open research within the field of climate justice; and 3) methods and modalities for sharing open research on climate justice.

Dear colleagues,
The following message is sent on behalf of Yingqi Tang of Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama.

Hello,
We invite you to participate in a study of Academic Librarian’s perception of Open Educational Resources (OER). The purpose of this study is to learn your experience with using OER in your daily work as well as the self-efficacy, attitude, and intention of use towards OER. These findings will help us to better understand the current status of OER in academic libraries.
We plan to present these results at a conference and submit it for a scholarly publication. The survey is Web-based and is expected to take about 5 minutes to complete.
Please offer your unbiased view and be assured that your replies will remain anonymous and will only be reported in aggregate.
You can complete the survey using this Google Form: Academic Librarians’ Perception and Attitude towards OER Survey<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfR9UVEj0h0ePiFEnMZ_kVYH7-6Gw4qf5a…>.<https://forms.gle/jvjAJpcsHosaah8P7>
