Spring 2021 OER Grant Recipients
The Office of Open Education is pleased to announce and congratulate recipients of the
Spring 2021 Open Educational Resources Grant:
Arley Cruthers (School of Business), Lilach Marom (Arts), Seanna Takacs (Teaching and
Learning Commons) | Story Based UDL Guide (Creation)
* Create story-based Universal Design for Learning (UDL) guide that can act as a
training module for instructors, education students and students of EDUC 4210
Andrew Frank (School of Business) | Writing for Public Relations, PRLN 1120 (Adaptation)
* Adapt an existing OER with local examples and case studies toward a Public Relations
OER relevant to our context
Leonora King (Arts) | Natural Hazards (Creation)
* Create a comprehensive open access natural disasters textbook that will emphasize
the British Columbia context but be versatile for adaptation for international audiences

Educational Leave Recipient
The Office of Open Education would like to extend its congratulations to Pamela Ip (School
of Business) on receiving an Educational Leave to create an open educational resource
(OER) and ancillary resources for MRKT 1199: Introduction to Marketing. This project is
estimated to save KPU business students roughly $300,000 a year. Pamela’s project is the
first step toward establishing an open online course in Marketing in the hope of further
reducing barriers.
About Open Educational Resources (OER) Grants
The Open Educational Resources (OER) Grant program provides funding and staff support to
regular KPU faculty members interested in creating, adapting, and adopting OER. Faculty
can apply for up to $4000 in funding to create OER or up to $2000 to adapt existing OER!
The application deadline for OER Creation and Adaption grant for Summer 2021 is May 1.
