Subject: [Openkpu] KPU's OPUS Team wins Outstanding Contribution Award from the BC
Library Association
Dear colleagues,
It is with immense pleasure and pride that I share the news that our Open Publishing Suite
(OPUS) Team has received the Outstanding Contribution Award from the BC Library
Association<https://libguides.kpu.ca/library/news/KPUs-OPUS-Team-wins-Outstanding-Achievement-Award>.
This award is presented every year to an academic library team or individual who has made
a real difference to students, faculty or colleagues in British Columbia.
Launched in March 2019, OPUS<https://www.kpu.ca/library/OPUS> - a suite of Library
services and tools - was created to support faculty at various stages in producing their
Open Education Resources. This support has helped foster the creation of over 20 Open
textbooks as well as several journals and the inclusion of a variety of faculty authored
materials in KPU’s institutional repository.
In addition to one-on-one consultations, the Team has also created several guides and
workshops for faculty and students related to various aspects of Open Access and
publishing, as well as sharing their knowledge with libraries at other institutions
wanting to create their own Open publishing program.
Please join me in congratulating our wonderful colleagues and OPUS Team members:
Caroline Daniels, Systems, Web & Interlibrary Loans Librarian
Karen Meijer-Kline, Scholarly Communications Librarian
Paula Pinter, Library Technician
Beverly Whiticutt, Library Technician
Syreen Prestonji, Library Technician
Urooj Nizami, Open Education Strategist
