Coast Capital Savings Library at KPU is excited to celebrate Open Access Week by hosting a
series of workshops that enables participants to engage with the resources and tools open
research has to offer.
We've lined up 4 workshops, some offered at 3 different time slots, in hopes that you
can partake. Registration is now open!!!
1. CREATE AND ADAPT: Make Web Ready Books Using Pressbooks:
A popular web platform that is used to create or adapt open textbooks. Learn how to use
the BCcampus hosted version to transform your documents into web ready books! Computers
are provided for KPU employees, but you should have access to an online document that you
are interested in converting to a web based book. View times and

2. PUBLISH AND EDUCATE: Publish your own journal using Open Journal System (OJS):
A popular journal management and publishing system that allows you to publish your own
journal. KPU library is up and running with it. Come get a tour and hands on experience!

3. SEARCH AND DISCOVER: Find Open Textbooks and Content in your subject area: you

4. EXTEND YOUR TEACHING using Wikipedia in Academia: A Workshop with Dr. Judy Chan,
UBC:

The 10th annual Open Access Week takes place internationally October 23-29. Open Access
Week is "a global, community-driven week of action to open up access to
research" and invites participants to focus on what open access enables (OAW
website<http://www.openaccessweek.org/>)/>).
