Hi there everyone,
Some news from the publishing realm, shared by our wonderful librarian Deirdre Grace, that some of you might be interested in: Carnegie U and Elsevier signed an open publishing agreement:
https://www.cmu.edu/news/stories/archives/2019/november/cmu-publishing-agre…
The following really resonates with my beliefs around "open":
"Carnegie Mellon is committed to ensuring that our publicly funded research is accessible to the world"
Cheers,
Rosario
Hi there fellow open educators,
I am attending the Open Education Global conference in Milan, and just learned about this portal that has thousands of open exercises for post-secondary Math and Stats subject matters. If you are a math or statistics teacher you might be interested in checking it out. These exercises are mostly from University of the Netherlands and Deft University in the Netherlands as well.

Let me know what you think about it, and if you think it is a good site, please share it widely in your networks.
Cheers,
Rosario
Hi there fellow Open Educators,
Have some great news to share... not sure how many of you have been following this process at UNESCO, but, they unanimously adopted a new draft recommendation on OER<https://www.oercongress.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Draft-OER-Recommenda…> to support the achievement of the UN's 2030 Development Agenda. Recommendations include five objectives:
* building capacity of stakeholders to create, access, use, adapt, and redistribute OER;
* developing supportive policy at the national level;
* encouraging inclusive and equitable quality OER;
* nurturing the creation of sustainability models for OER; and
* facilitating international cooperation.
The recommendation is expected to be approved next week at the UN General Conference next week.

Hi there fellow Open Educators,
Some of you may already have seen this, however, I would like to share this here for the ones who may have missed it.
The Canadian Association of Research Libraries (CARLS) has just released a statement on Open Education. This is a tremendous endorsement of the role that Open Education can play in Post Secondary teaching and learning. See the statement here:
