I have a meeting with the Canada OER group tomorrow, and would like to report on what we
are planning to do for Open Education Week in BC. I know Robin DeRosa is coming to speak
at KPU and Douglas, right? Any other ideas and/or plans for events that week at your
institutions?

calendar under Open Education Week, like what we did for Open Access Week.

We haven’t talked about that at KPU. We aren’t set up to do that in house so would need to
hire from outside (as I understand it). Does BCcampus have the capacity to help out with
live streaming? I can’t remember!

at KPU and Douglas, right? Any other ideas and/or plans for events that week at your
institutions?

calendar under Open Education Week, like what we did for Open Access Week.

Hi Rosario & all,
UBC and SFU are jointly planning an Open Education Week event but we're still working
out the details. Erin may have some additional information on this as well.
At SFU, the SFSS is also planning to run an information campaign here during Open
Education Week encouraging students to distribute cards to their instructors with
information about OER.
And we'll likely be organizing a speaker panel event highlighting some of the work of
our SFU OER grant recipients as well. We'll make sure to send you the details for the
events calendar once we've nailed down a date/time.

UBC, SFU and PKP are working on an event for OpenEd week. We are still in the planning
stages but there will be a panel discussing the following idea:
The Failure of Access: Rethinking the Successes of Open Education in Higher Education
I’ll let you know more once we have moved our plans along. Additionally, if anyone would
like to partner on this as well, please let me know.

Hi all,
I just spoke with the A/V Technician in our IT Department. He’s in the midst of testing a
new video and web conferencing product, Zoom, and will likely be able to live stream the
talk from Langara. The hitch is that our license is capped at 50 web participants. If he
discovers that the product isn’t suitable for this event, he says he can, at the very
least, record the session. With Robin’s permission, we could then find a space to host it
online.
