Dear BCcampus Pressbooks User,
BCcampus Open Education is pleased to announce the inclusion of its two Pressbooks
instances—BCcampus Open Publishing<https://opentextbc.ca/> and the British
Columbia/Yukon Open Authoring Platform<https://pressbooks.bccampus.ca/>—to the
Pressbooks Directory<https://pressbooks.directory/>, launched by
Pressbooks<https://pressbooks.com/> as part of their Open Source
project<https://pressbooks.org/> last December. This directory provides an index of
thousands of books published across dozens of Pressbooks networks around the world. Books
can be searched by keywords, subject matter, license, and more.
Starting today, users can find BCcampus open textbooks alongside thousands of other public
books in the Pressbooks Directory. Learn more on the BCcampus
blog<https://bccampus.ca/2021/02/18/bccampus-oer-is-now-discoverable-in-pressbooks-directory/>.
All books listed in BCcampus Pressbooks instances are included in this directory providing
they:
* are marked as
Public<https://opentextbc.ca/pressbooks/chapter/make-book-public/>
* contain 1,500 words or more
* do not include the word 'Test' or 'Demo' in the book's title
If an author does not want their book included in the Pressbook Directory, it can be
excluded from the
directory<https://networkmanagerguide.pressbooks.com/chapter/how-to-opt-…
by the book's administrator. For more information, see the Pressbooks
Directory<https://opentextbc.ca/pressbooks/chapter/pressbooks-directory/> chapter in
the Pressbooks Guide.
Sincerely,
BCcampus IT Support and Open Education Team
