Dear colleagues,

Earlier this year, we organized KPU's first interdisciplinary Faculty Learning Community (FLC) on Open Pedagogy. Meeting over the Spring semester, the group explored a variety of open educational practices that go far beyond open textbooks and critically examined ways in which students and faculty can use open resources, open licensing, and open tools to work together to design powerful and authentic learning experiences.

This Fall will mark the launch of our second FLC cohort. The group will read a single article and meet for a virtual discussion twice a month on Fridays from 9-10am (beginning on September 21). The schedule of meetings and topics is as follows:

September 21: From open educational resources to open pedagogy [Reading]

October 5: Diversity, equity, and inclusion through open education [Reading]

October 19: Privacy, digital redlining, and educational technology [Reading]

November 2: A domain of one's own: Wordpress in the classroom [Reading]

November 23: Information environmentalism: Wikipedia in the classroom [Reading]

December 7: Open pedagogy showcase
