Congratulations UN SDG Fellows & Wilson School of Design! [cid:image001.png@01D73791.893E5C30] Congratulations to Monica Affleck and Reynold Vaz, recipients of the 2021-22 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Open Pedagogy Fellowship<https://www.kpu.ca/open/un-sdg-fellowship>! This fellowship is designed to assist faculty with creating renewable assignments (all of which will carry a Creative Commons<https://creativecommons.org/choose/> license) to help students become agents of change in their own communities. Each fellowship team (which will include at least one faculty member from KPU and one faculty member from a partner institution will design three renewable assignments during the Summer 2021 semester. A minimum of two renewable assignments will be deployed in the classes of each fellowship team during the subsequent academic year. KPU’s ZTC programs allow students to pursue an education without spending a cent on textbooks. The IDSN program joins the Wilson School of Design’s Certificate in Foundations in Design<https://www.kpu.ca/design/find> along with five other ZTC programs. Critical Perspectives on Open Development , MIT Press 2021 (Changing Infrastructure in Urban India)

Dear 'Open' Colleagues, At this time the situation of friends and relations in India are on many of our minds. Let us hope we see more 'open access', pro-public goods solutions, that eliminates barriers to accessing vaccines, including opening IP access to vaccine 'recipe' and technology sharing commitments (see: People's Vaccine Campaign<https://peoplesvaccine.org/> for patent free vaccines and a vaccine IP waiver). Related to India, I am pleased to say that an article that Satyarupa Shekhar and myself did research on some time ago in Chennai (Tamil Nadu) has finally published. The article is open access through MIT Press and IDRC (Canada) and it is part of a book that will likely be of interest to many on this list, Critical Perspectives on Open Development.
