Good afternoon everyone,
With the shift to remote delivery many of you are taking advantage of open textbooks and other Open Educational Resources (OER). We would like to remind you that KPU provides 3 levels of grants to support faculty and staff working with OER:
OER Adoption Grants support faculty who wish to adopt OER in place of commercial textbooks and recognize the efforts involved in implementing this change. Successful individual applicants are eligible to receive up to $500 towards the professional development activity of their choosing. Teams of faculty may receive up to $1,500 towards a group event, project or activity. Applications for OER Adoption Grants are accepted on an ongoing basis until all funds have been allocated.
OER Adaptation Grants support the adaptation (customization/localization/update/remix) of existing open textbooks or other kinds of OER. Projects receive funding up to $2000 (which may be used to hire student assistants or provide honoraria to external collaborators) and in-kind assistance from the Library's Open Publishing Suite (OPUS)<https://www.kpu.ca/library/OPUS>.
?OER Creation Grants support the creation of new open textbooks or other kinds of OER. In addition to project funding up to $2000 (which may be used to hire student assistants or provide honoraria to external collaborators) and in-kind assistance from the Library's Open Publishing Suite (OPUS)<https://www.kpu.ca/library/OPUS>, successful applicants for OER Creation Grants will also receive up to $2000 towards any professional development activity of their choosing.
For more information about each of these grant programs, the (brief) application forms, and examples of previously funded projects please visit: https://www.kpu.ca/open/grants??<https://www.kpu.ca/open/grants>
The next application deadline for OER Adaptation and Creation Grants is Friday, May 1.
Please note that applications for OER Adoption grants are accepted on a rolling basis until all funds have been allocated.?
?
Stay safe and well!
Karen

Subject: [Openkpu] Andrea Niosi Awarded BCcampus Marketing Grant
A big congratulations to Andrea Niosi for being one of four recipients of a BCCampus Marketing Grant. Andrea will use the grant to create an OER textbook on Consumer Behaviour.
Andrea’s textbook will take a social justice approach to marketing and will “identify how marketers perpetuate harm and how the next generation of marketers can avoid it completely and still flourish in their profession.”
Congratulations to Andrea on this outstanding achievement! We know that her textbook will huge benefit students from KPU and beyond.
