This new textbook is from the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT).

This book was created by the Digital Education Strategies (DES) team at the G. Raymond Chang School for Continuing Education at Ryerson University in Toronto, Ontario to address a need for professional development training for web developers on web accessibility, a topic of critical importance for technical programs offered by post-secondary institutions.

This book is organized around the fifteen lessons of the Technical Project Management course, with an emphasis on the connections between the various stages and practices of technical project management. It is the book used for one of the ten required classes in the Master of Engineering Management (MEM) program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The Master of Engineering Management is a world-class online program, consistently ranked in the Top 10 by U.S. News & World Report.

This new addition is an approachable introductory Mass Communication text that covers major mass communication terms and concepts including "digital culture." The Working Group Guide is a resource for librarians, staff, and faculty who support or are supporting open education at their institution and are starting or running an open working group. This resource contains three sections to help users establish, run, and sustain a working group.

The Information Directory lays out current events, opinions, and OER investigations related to open education in four categories: blogs, books,news, and research. It was created to fulfill the need for Canadian-based information, specifically British Columbia, on open education. However, the Information Directory also includes content from other English-speaking countries with chapters for the United States, the Global North, and the Global South.This directory is considered an ongoing resource and will be updated as information comes available. A “Last update” textbox is posted at the top of each chapter to clearly indicate when information was last added.

I wanted to share this new resource developed at the University of Saskatchewan (see below). It is a lovely example of an open pedagogy project that involves Education students writing essays for a course that have been put together in an openly-licensed collection. This kind of project is among the type of proposals that our OER grant program is able to support: http://www.kpu.ca/open/grants

Dear colleagues,
The Open Education Working Group is delighted to announce the creation of an Open Pedagogy Fellowship in partnership with Montgomery College<https://www.montgomerycollege.edu/offices/elite/unesco/> (Maryland, USA) that centres on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals<https://en.unesco.org/sdgs> (SDGs), a set of 17 goals that address a wide range of social issues, such as poverty, inequality, climate change, and peace and justice.
This fellowship is designed to assist faculty with creating renewable assignments<https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1177/1475725718811711> (all of which will carry a Creative Commons license) to help students become agents of change in their own communities. Each fellowship team (which will include at least one faculty member from KPU and one faculty member from Montgomery College) will begin to design three renewable assignments in Summer 2019.
It is anticipated that 2 applications will be selected for the UN SDG Open Pedagogy Fellowship, which includes training and support from the Office of Open Education along with a grant of CDN$1000 that may be used to hire one or more student assistants. Open Pedagogy Fellows will be required to attend a kick-off meeting and three additional meetings throughout the summer.
KPU faculty interested in becoming a UN SDG Open Pedagogy Faculty Fellow should discuss their interest with Rajiv Jhangiani<mailto:rajiv.jhangiani@kpu.ca>, Special Advisor to the Provost on Open Education. There will be priority consideration for applications for teams, including interdisciplinary teams. Communications with MC faculty and students can be done entirely through web conferencing and/or email.
Completed applications must be endorsed by the Dean of your Faculty and submitted to open(a)kpu.ca<mailto:open@kpu.ca> by midnight on April 1, 2019. Applications will be adjudicated by the Open Education Working Group<http://www.kpu.ca/open/oewg>. Faculty will be notified of acceptance into the fellowship the week of April 8, 2019.
