Hello fellow open educators,

BCIT is teaming up with UBC, SFU, KPU, UFV and Langara College to host a panel discussion event on October 24 in the early evening, at SFU downtown, to celebrate Open Access Week, Oct 22-28.

Open Access Week, a global event now entering its tenth year, is an opportunity for the academic and research community to continue to learn about the potential benefits of Open Access, to share what they’ve learned with colleagues, and to help inspire wider participation in helping to make Open Access a new norm in scholarship and research.” For more info on OAW click here.

The theme for this year’s Open Access Week is “Designing Equitable Foundations for Open Knowledge”  and our panel will address issues around ”Open but not Free: Invisible Labour in Open Scholarship” and the impact on the sustainability of the Open Movement.

If you are interested, please register. There will be a wine and cheese reception prior to the event!

I hope to see some of you there.
