Hi all,
TRU's Bookstore seems to purchasing VitalSource for eBook textbooks. Are any other
institutions doing this? It looks students would pay a flat fee for all textbooks through
it. Thoughts about it and its impact on OER?

Interesting – Vital Source and Red Hat came to my attention recently because that is the
only place I think you can get an electronic copy of the APA manual.

In fact, APA says they are making it free for libraries during COVID but that ended in May
– I guess they thought the pandemic would be over by then 😊

Does this give students access to all textbooks on the platform, or they are still just
buying individual textbooks and accessing via the VitalSource platform? Previously this
model was only available to US customers.

I think what is planned is that students will pay a flat fee to access all their
textbooks, and that faculty choose which of the 900+ books in the collection they want to
use.
