SFU Bookstore has been piloting VitalSource since the move to remote instruction last spring, but so far it's been set up as an optional (purchase by title) rather than a required (flat fee) platform for faculty and student use. I was unable to watch because I had another commitment, but apparently the VP Finance spoke and apologized multiple times for the lack of consultation and how the announcement was written. He has said that a full committee with students, faculty, and staff will be established to have a consultative process to look at textbook affordability. So, it looks like it’s at least on hold.
