I'd be very happy for Karen to join. She is part of the open studies group at KPU and open is in her portfolio so we'll be sharing a lot of stuff. I don't know Paula but I agree you need a process to follow. I just went through this with the another committee and we thought we would get people to submit a brief synopsis of why they want to join. I think maybe Shawna had done that already? Our concern was not to make the numbers too big as meetings get difficult to arrange and we wanted and engaged committee.

Just a note from the coppul directors meeting that I attended yesterday. They are looking for some way to update each other on open activities at each other's libraries. There might be an interest group or an extension on mandate if an existing standing committee. Regardless Rosario and Lin you made an impact!!!

Hello,

I’ve heard from Shawnna Parlongo again and she still wants to volunteer and unfortunately I forgot to include her for the training with the mediawiki refresher.  We also need to discuss what we are specifically adding to the mediawiki so I thought we should ask her to join the Steering Committee and then she would be part of that discussion. So is it okay to just add people to the Steering Committee if they are committed to do work with our group?

Also, Karen Meijer-Kline, the Scholarly Communications Librarian at Kwantlen would like to join the BCOEL Steering Committee.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks,

Debra
