Hi, all.

I got sidetracked Friday afternoon and didn’t actually get my request for feedback sent to BCLA.

However, I just received the message below. It appears selection committee is interested in the session proposal, but there are a couple of changes they would like to see.

Annette,

Thank you for your comments.

As this was a collective proposal, I will forward your message to the other BCOEL steering committee members, and we will discuss how best to make the suggested changes.

We will let you know as soon as possible.

Thank you again.

Subject: BC Library Conference session on OER

Hi Martin

My name is Annette DeFaveri and I’m the Executive Director at BCLA. We recently sent you a “no” email suggesting that we weren’t interested in your proposal for the BC Library Conference. This is not the case.

The Session Selection Committee asked that I get hold of you and see if you would be open to two changes in your proposal. We hope you will be, and that we can then go ahead and mount your session as part of the conference program.

Your proposal suggests there would be 7 speakers. We work to keep the number of speakers per session to 3, but take four when necessary. Would you be able to mount the session with a maximum of 4 presenters?

The other concern voiced in the selection meeting was about KPU. Several committee members suggested that KPU leads the province in open education adoption and has a strong history with Open Ed. With that in mind they wondered if KPU should be more heavily represented on the panel.

Overall the committee was very pleased to receive your session proposal and think the topic is valuable to both the BC Library conference specifically and to the learning in the BC library environment generally. The format for the session is great, starting with Gill Green and then moving to a panel discussion and we hope you want to keep that approach.

Would you consider the tweaks to the session? Or perhaps you have another suggestion?

Please let me know and I can (hopefully) move forward and add this session to the 2017 program.

Thanks for considering this Martin.

Best regards,

Annette
