I could reset my password and find out the details, since I've left my passwords at
home today (one of those days).
From my email, Loretta Teng, James Rout, Farhad Dastur,
Ken Jeffery, and Gill Green were the panelists, along with Courtenay Miller, an SFU
student. Farhad is from KPU, right?
Not sure who the seventh was supposed to be? Maybe Rosario as the moderator?
This is the tweak that may require negotiation. I see their point about maximum four, even
as an exception, but how do we create a more representative group of stakeholders? And if
we pare down the proposed panel, a 25% KPU representation is pretty good isn't it?
Other thoughts?

Oh! Can you tell me who you had from KPU (sorry - can't seem to find proposal at a
quick glance and can't remember who the 7 are)? I suspect they probably want to see
Rajiv again which I could try to arrange if he wasn't on your original submission.
We had Gill present on his use of open ed in his courses - it was a practical approach
that was really well received here. I think librarians would benefit from that
presentation so I'm glad to see that BCLA is interested in hearing from him.

Hi, all.
I got sidetracked Friday afternoon and didn't actually get my request for feedback
sent to BCLA.
However, I just received the message below. It appears selection committee is interested
in the session proposal, but there are a couple of changes they would like to see.

Annette,
Thank you for your comments.
As this was a collective proposal, I will forward your message to the other BCOEL steering
committee members, and we will discuss how best to make the suggested changes.
We will let you know as soon as possible.
Thank you again.

Hi Martin
My name is Annette DeFaveri and I'm the Executive Director at BCLA. We recently sent
you a "no" email suggesting that we weren't interested in your proposal for
the BC Library Conference. This is not the case.
The Session Selection Committee asked that I get hold of you and see if you would be open
to two changes in your proposal. We hope you will be, and that we can then go ahead and
mount your session as part of the conference program.
Your proposal suggests there would be 7 speakers. We work to keep the number of speakers
per session to 3, but take four when necessary. Would you be able to mount the session
with a maximum of 4 presenters?
The other concern voiced in the selection meeting was about KPU. Several committee members
suggested that KPU leads the province in open education adoption and has a strong history
with Open Ed. With that in mind they wondered if KPU should be more heavily represented on
the panel.
Overall the committee was very pleased to receive your session proposal and think the
topic is valuable to both the BC Library conference specifically and to the learning in
the BC library environment generally. The format for the session is great, starting with
Gill Green and then moving to a panel discussion and we hope you want to keep that
approach.
Would you consider the tweaks to the session? Or perhaps you have another suggestion?
Please let me know and I can (hopefully) move forward and add this session to the 2017
program.
Thanks for considering this Martin.
Best regards,
Annette
