Yes, I also agree and that’s good news that BCIT will waive the fee and it’s not too late to cancel catering.  And yes, I would worry about Brenda getting here as well.

I agree with postponing.  It looks like it will get nastier as the week progresses right into next week. Bring on the ski season!

I'm checking with the rest of the organizing committee from ALS. I'm recommending postponing & will let you know as soon as I know, later today. Feedback from this group on postponing also welcome (thanks Erin for the suggestion to consider postponing).

This is the message I sent out:

Friday is kind of falling apart. No live streaming, presenters possibly unable to get to the event, good chance of low turnout due to weather. Should we cancel/postpone event?

I've checked with BCIT - they will waive the 80% room cancelation fee so there would be no charge, catering can also be cancelled at no charge.

I would like to cancel/postpone the event - I don't think that we will get the turnout/audience we were hoping for.

Hi Lin & all,

Oh no, sorry to hear that the livestreaming has been cancelled! I was personally hoping to participate that way as I need to work from home that day (to look after childcare drop-off/pick up while my husband writes an exam on Friday). The snow is indeed a bit of a wildcard factor this week as well :-(

And yes, I'm absolutely happy to help out with sorting out logistics/details this week. I need to get the final catering number to Tracy at BCIT by noon or so tomorrow and I think Ali was planning to send the final registration tally to me then. I'll get in touch with Ali & Ryan to let them know I'm happy to help with anything else as needed this week as well.

Best wishes, Hope

Hello all,

The Friday event was coming together nicely. Now I've just received an email notice that BCIT is cancelling the livestream became they can't find a camera operator for that day, and the snow! I am wondering if a bunch of people will just not show up. Brenda, I am also wondering if it is safe for you to drive in this weather?

Not sure if I'm just whining or if this is a desperate call for help and/or reassurance.

Here are a few things:

- Is there a camera person out there? It is possible that Jasmit would still do live streaming if he has a camera operator, i would need to check with him. However, with the weather, I am concerned that if live streaming is an option, people just won't show up and we do have the room costs and a few extra things to cover.

- It would be nice to have an appropriate catering order rather than way too much food - we need a final number for the catering by noon tomorrow.

- is there someone who could bring a laptop and take care of making sure all the slides are working (Jasmit was going to take care of that)

- I would like to be released from thinking of the logistics so that i can concentrate on the program. Hope or Lindsay - do you have time to work with Alison Moore and Ryan etc. to take care of details - sending notice that livestream is canceled, correcting BCOER to BCOEL, getting a final confirmed number of participants, figuring out a final budget etc.

Subject: [Bcoelsteering] ALS program in Google Docs has BCOER
Hi there everyone,
The email lin sent me yesterday with the program for the ALS meeting on Dec. 9 has ALS/BCOER in teh title.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1g4k3bBN_1YAxPK43HEapO7nyv29VHZdnuwwMN4i_ENY/edit

Can someone edit that file to read BCOEL? I have tweeted twice about it - we have corrected it on the BCcampus calendar.

Please and thanks.
