Hi Martin,
I sent our an email to our math faculty that use an open textbook and I'll let you
know if any of them show any interest. However, Rajiv had someone looking for a partner.
Here's Rajiv's email:
Hello everyone,
I recently met with a faculty member at Carleton U who is interested in developing OER and
wants to connect with others in his field who already have.
Do any of you know of any Math faculty on your campuses involved in OER adoption who would
be willing to connect with him? His name is Kevin Cheung and his email address is
KEVINCHEUNG@CUNET.CARLETON.CA<mailto:KEVINCHEUNG@CUNET.CARLETON.CA>
Many thanks,
Rajiv

Subject: [Bcoelsteering] Open math practitioners?
Hi, all.
There is a UFV math faculty member very interested in completing an open textbook on
calculus he started a couple of years ago. We've had a few conversations in the past,
but he has had time constraints, as well as some uncertainties around recombining open
licensed content that I haven't quite been able to alleviate yet. He also has a
different pedagogical approach in mind, and one that he apparently cannot easily work into
the existing BC Campus calculus texts. The details escape me, but it made a lot of sense
to me as someone who never responded well to traditional approaches of teaching math.
So quite some time after starting and outlining from scratch, he has realised it will be
more efficient to complete by incorporating existing content. And I now get the impression
he is looking for some collaboration opportunities with others who have specifically
worked with open math content.
Do any of you know of anyone actively using and revising math content?
Many thanks.
