Good morning all,
At our last BCOEL steering committee meeting, I briefly shared about a new project I'll be working on to develop a strategy for SFU Library to increase support for OER adoptions and advance open education more broadly on campus.
As part of this project work, I've been tasked with checking in with other institutions (locally and perhaps more broadly) for examples of open education strategy in action. So I would be very grateful indeed for any examples you might be able to share of publicly available documents that articulate plans, goals, visions, statements and/or policies that guide open education strategy at your Library and campus. I do know that Kwantlen has an exemplary "Open Education Strategic Plan 2018-2023<https://kpu.pressbooks.pub/openeducation/>" -- and Caroline and Karen, I would love to chat with you further about this sometime if you're willing and able :-)
As I think this may be a topic of interest to others here as well, feel free to reply to our list here with any examples -- or to share with me directly if you feel more comfortable that way. I'm also happy to answer questions about this SFU Library project work any time!
Thanks so much, Hope

Hello again all,
Thanks to everyone who was able to pop onto our call today! Thanks also to Urooj for prompting us to start thinking about a 2021 Open Education Week event - March will be here before we know it.
Mia kindly reiterated her willingness to serve as the team lead for the event. I looked back at the BCOEL 2020/21 Priority Sign-Up Sheet<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_CzR2moJJRJNIP7SRpeK5945S4ExVnlW5rdvM5H…> and a number of people put their name forward to assist. However, I realize that people's capacity may have changed since signing up, so feel free to delete or add your name to the Open Ed Week Event section of the Google Doc before end-of-day on November 27. After which, Mia, could I ask you to arrange a planning team meeting? (I think this could be in early January if it proves too difficult to connect in December.)
Many thanks,
Lindsay

Hello BCOEL,
This is an invitation to you, your staff, faculty and instructors to join us for Studio20: Engaging Learners online<studio20.bccampus.ca>
Studio20 is a virtual event and 3 day exploration of ways to make learning interesting, energizing and fun. We will take a studio-based approach on the themes of vision, voice and active learning.
Each day will begin with a keynote to spark thinking. Following each keynote session, there will be studio sessions focussed on exploring thematic concepts and providing dedicated time for hands-on or guided practice in real-time.
In addition, there will be places in the Studio20 event space for further exploration of ideas through group discussions, virtual exhibits, and networking with each other.
Throughout the event, you will be invited to share the things you create, as well as your teaching and learning experiences and strategies. For some added fun and games, there is a chance for all to compete for the chance to shop for swag in our Studio20 virtual store.
If you have any questions about Studio20, please get in touch.
Cheers from,
Leva & BCcampus Studio20 Team
