BCcampus OpenEd: NEW - Open Education Resource Sustainability Grant for Institutions

Dear Colleagues, BCcampus Open Education has just posted a NEW grant opportunity: the Open Education Sustainability Grant for Institutions<https://open.bccampus.ca/call-for-proposals/open-education-sustainability-g…>. This call for proposals is for institutional open education working groups in British Columbia to provide small open educational grants, funded by BCcampus and matched by the institution, in order to improve the sustainability of open education. The Open Education Resource Sustainability Grant for Institutions may also be used for, but is not limited to, workshops, training, and institutional support for OER and open education infrastructure. The proposal deadline is August 22nd. Rational for dedicated faculty time for Open Education

Hello, At our last "in person" meeting I mentioned I would like to request some release time (25% plus) for an Open Education Faculty Fellow within Douglas. Someone, other than Kwantlen who has an Associate Vice Provost for Open Education, mentioned at the meeting that there is someone at their institution and I thought I jotted that down and now I can't find where I jotted that down :) Could you let me know if you have something or trying to get something like this at your institution. If you have a Faculty Fellow or are working on it, have you put forward a rationale proposal and would you be willing to share that document? Thanks for any information you can provide. fall meetings

The people who were able to be at the BCOEL meeting this week agreed that we would try a regular day/time for our fall meetings in Sept., Oct., Nov. and see if that works for the group. Everyone in attendance identified Tuesday afternoons. These are possible dates/times for the fall meetings (third Tuesday of the month, 1:30-2:30). Please let me know by Wed. next week if this does not work for you. Hi again all, Based on the number of interested emails I received, I am forwarding the files Jennifer Weldon created for the BCcampus open textbook collection look-up tool with the whole list. Lauri, Jennifer (who works on contract with both Langara and VCC) created the tool and was happy for me to share the code with BCcampus and the wider open ed community. Some responded that the instructors do use the LMS but this was a way to share it more broadly and students have access to it even after they finish that course. Debra

BCOEL Summer meeting reminder

Hi everyone, Just a reminder that we have the June BCOEL Steering Committee Meeting on Wednesday, June 12th at BCIT's Downtown Campus (555 Seymour Street, Vancouver) in room 481. The meeting will be from 9am to noon, but the room is booked for 8:30. We will not be providing refreshments due to budget issues, so please be sure to bring coffee/morning snack if so desired. We'll build in a longer coffee break in the agenda to give us time to go downstairs and get required caffeine. Some of the topics to discuss/work on include: o Youtube channel content o Maintaining website - who should do? How frequently? o Review decisions from January - are things working?; o What are our plans for the next year? o Time for working group to plan out remainder of the year and/or work on projects Could you let me know if you are still able (or are now able) to attend so that Lin and I have rough numbers? Also - attached are the November and May minutes. Thanks to Lin for doing those. I'm only working a half day today (first day back after a nasty case of bronchitis brought me to my knees), and I'm catching the early flight to Vancouver tomorrow morning for the Relais Users Group meeting, so responses may be delayed.
