Hello,
At the Open Textbook Summit we discussed getting together for a full day in June to do business in the morning and project work in the afternoon. We are tentatively planning to meet downtown at BCIT. Here's the Doodle to find a day that will work for the majority - http://doodle.com/poll/4uv7p9rewumenk6h

Hi there everyone,
Apologies for the very short notice on informing you of the following...
So, we had agreed as a group that we would meet for lunch during the OT
Summit. We only needed a room or a space where we could get together.
So... Christy did a great job and got us a place:
We have booked room 101
https://www.sfu.ca/mecs/facilities/harbour-centre/meeting-rooms/boardrooms.…
on Day 1 of the Summit from 12 - 2pm...
So, the plan is for us to grab our lunch food and move to this room for
a lunch meeting. The only thing we are asked to do is to bring our lunch
remains to the garbage and leave the room as tidy as possible.
So, see you all there tomorrow.
Cheers,
Rosario

Thanks, Erin.
I have passed along the link to the article
And I have directed math/science folks to the UBC wiki, but while freely available, most of the content I have spot checked does not carry open licenses. The general copyright information here:
http://wiki.ubc.ca/UBC_Wiki:General_disclaimer
I have little doubt most contributors would assign an CC license if asked, and in some places it seems like license clarification is a work in progress:

At UBC the graduate students in mathematics, several years ago, put together an open database of problem sets and answers in the UBC Wiki: http://wiki.ubc.ca/Science:Math_Exam_Resources
It’s an amazing resource that has replaced most text content in courses. There is a full list of all the courses that currently are using this tool.
Additionally, there has been a lot of development in our Math department on developing open texts . The full list can be found here with linked examples (Look at: Appendix: Sample of Open Textbooks Used at UBC): http://open.ubc.ca/open-ubc-snapshots-textbook-displacements-by-open-resour…

Hi Martin,
Petra Menz from MATH at SFU here has recently been funded for a project through our OER grants program. It's still in early stages, but here's her contact info if your UFV faculty contact is interested in reaching out to her: https://www.sfu.ca/math/people/faculty/petra_menz.html
And here's some info about her proposed project:
"Petra Menz’s project aims to find, adapt and adopt OER materials and integrate them into existing course materials for MATH 157 and MATH 158. This includes the amalgamation of course content and study skills exercises, development of online assignments, and interactive practice problem assignments. These developments will offer social calculus students three types of high-quality assessment along with cost-free course content that weaves the learning of reading and studying skills into the material in order to enhance their mathematical learning experience."
Cheers, Hope

Hi Martin,
I sent our an email to our math faculty that use an open textbook and I’ll let you know if any of them show any interest. However, Rajiv had someone looking for a partner. Here’s Rajiv’s email:
Hello everyone,
I recently met with a faculty member at Carleton U who is interested in developing OER and wants to connect with others in his field who already have.
Do any of you know of any Math faculty on your campuses involved in OER adoption who would be willing to connect with him? His name is Kevin Cheung and his email address is KEVINCHEUNG(a)CUNET.CARLETON.CA<mailto:KEVINCHEUNG@CUNET.CARLETON.CA>
Many thanks,
Rajiv

Hi, all.
There is a UFV math faculty member very interested in completing an open textbook on calculus he started a couple of years ago. We’ve had a few conversations in the past, but he has had time constraints, as well as some uncertainties around recombining open licensed content that I haven’t quite been able to alleviate yet. He also has a different pedagogical approach in mind, and one that he apparently cannot easily work into the existing BC Campus calculus texts. The details escape me, but it made a lot of sense to me as someone who never responded well to traditional approaches of teaching math.
So quite some time after starting and outlining from scratch, he has realised it will be more efficient to complete by incorporating existing content. And I now get the impression he is looking for some collaboration opportunities with others who have specifically worked with open math content.
Do any of you know of anyone actively using and revising math content?
Many thanks.

Hello:
The latest Summon update seemed to go off without a hitch yesterday. If you've noticed a problem, please contact us via the Help Form:
http://about.library.ubc.ca/contact-us/ejournal-help/
I have turned on the new Open Access feature. You can now filter for "Open Access" and also see the Open Access padlock [cid:image001.png@01D2C4F4.09E25D60] in results. Here's an example:
