I’m running off to a meeting but I wonder if this
oral history from politico-turned-journalist Chris Liddell-Westefeld describes what you’re after? He spent a year collecting “over 200 oral history interviews with alumni of the caucus effort.”
It asks these questions: How did one of the whitest states in the union propel the first African-American president to the nomination? What about him captured Iowans’ imaginations? What compelled hundreds of young people to uproot their lives and join a movement
considered so unlikely in its nascent stages?
I just finished Michelle Obama’s book
Becoming and she also describes the Iowa race in depth.

Good morning Librarians!
I have a "weird" request - something I am having trouble finding and I am hoping you might be able to give me a hand.
In 2008 Obama credits his presidential win to winning the Iowa Caucus. His presidential strategist was key to reminding everyone that getting to the presidency mean winning Iowa.
Can anyone find me evidence of this? Details of how they won Iowa as a result of sticking to a single goal?
