Dear colleagues,

You are invited to participate in an online survey about course marking practices for open educational resources, low-cost course materials, and zero-cost course materials at Canadian post-secondary institutions. Course marking is the process of assigning specific, searchable attributes to courses. Anyone employed by a post-secondary institution in Canada is eligible to participate. Participants should have some knowledge of course marking practices (or lack thereof) for open educational resources, low-cost course materials, and/or zero-cost course materials at their institution.

You will be asked questions about course marking processes and motivations for course marking at your institution. You will be asked to share your institution’s name and the province or territory in which it is located. The survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete, and participation is voluntary. The survey will remain open until December 23, 2025.

You can access the survey by clicking on the following link: https://surveys.mcmaster.ca/limesurvey/index.php/229323?lang=en  You will be presented with a Letter of Information followed by a consent button before the survey begins.

This research study has been reviewed and received ethics clearance by the McMaster Research Ethics Board (#7898).

Nous vous invitons à participer à un sondage en ligne sur les pratiques de notation de cours pour les ressources éducatives libres, le matériel pédagogique à faible coût et le matériel pédagogique gratuit dans les établissements d’enseignement postsecondaire au Canada. La notation des cours consiste à attribuer des attributs précis et repérables aux cours. Toute personne employée dans un établissement d’enseignement postsecondaire au Canada est admissible à participer. Les personnes participantes doivent avoir une certaine connaissance des pratiques de notation (ou de l’absence de connaissance) de leur établissement pour les ressources éducatives libres, le matériel pédagogique à faible coût ou le matériel pédagogique gratuit.

Nous vous poserons des questions sur les processus de notation des cours et les motivations au sein de votre établissement à les noter. Vous devrez indiquer le nom de votre établissement et sa province ou son territoire. Le sondage durera environ 15 minutes et la participation est volontaire. Il sera ouvert jusqu’au 23 décembre 2025.

Cette étude a été évaluée par le Comité d’éthique de la recherche de l’Université McMaster et a reçu son approbation (n^o 7898).
