Two new open textbooks in philosophy: epistemology and aesthetics

Hi everyone, I am happy to announce the publication of the fifth and sixth books in a series of open textbooks for Introduction to Philosophy courses: Introduction to Philosophy: Epistemology<https://press.rebus.community/intro-to-phil-epistemology/>, edited by Brian C. Barnett, and Introduction to Philosophy: Aesthetic Theory and Practice<https://press.rebus.community/intro-to-phil-aesthetics/>, edited by Valery Vino. #OTESSA22 Submission Deadline Extended to January 15, 2022

Dear colleagues, The submission deadline for OTESSA 2022 has been extended<https://otessa.org/news/otessa22-final-deadline-extended-to-january-15/> until January 15, 2022. The Open/Technology, Education, Scholarship and Society Association (OTESSA<https://conference.otessa.org/index.php/conference>) online conference will be held between May 16 and 19, 2022. The overarching theme is critical change, and the subthemes are the transitions of online learning and teaching; addressing the new iniquities; and sustaining positive change. There is also a wildcard subcategory for "innovative and inventive ideas around research or practice" that don't fit any of the subthemes. Dear colleagues, UBC is once again running the Program for Open Scholarship and Education (POSE)<https://pose.open.ubc.ca/> in the spring 2022 semester from January to April. Registration is open to anyone in post-secondary who is interested. POSE is a four-month flexible and blended program that will help you develop foundational knowledge of Open Scholarship, Open Education, and Open Research. POSE will explore how open copyright licenses, collaborative practices, and networked technologies have the potential to lower barriers to knowledge by making the processes and products of scholarship more distributed, transparent, and accessible. POSE is intended for faculty, staff, postdocs, and students with an interest in open research, open access, open data and open education. The program is open to UBCO, UBCV, and non-UBC faculty, staff, and students at the post-secondary level. You will learn about: * Open Education * Open Access * Open Research * Open Data * Open Tools To support participant flexibility, the program is composed of online self-paced modules that you can complete over four months. You are also required to participate in two online synchronous sessions during the program. OpenEd Week 2022 - Collaborative Sessions

Hello Everyone! I'm starting to plan a schedule of events for the University of Alberta's Open Education Symposium. It will be a series of events throughout Open Education Week (Mar 7-11, 2022). I'm looking to do some collaborative sessions with other institutions. The University of Alberta would handle the registration, Zoom hosting, facilitation support, and edit/post the recording. I would ask that we do a joint-introduction to the session and you are welcome to put the registration and zoom on your institution's website, if you wish, to promote as a partnership with UofA rather than sending them to the UofA website. So far, we have a series of lunch-hour lightning talks (3-4 presenters in a 1hr session) being planned with University of Alberta, University of Calgary, and Thompson Rivers University. A growing list of topics we would like to deliver include: - Evaluating the quality of open pedagogies - OER speed-dating! - Open EdTech - tools review - open and participatory technologies - Pressbooks, H5P, and using them in class - "Do open pedagogies have to be either open or closed? Hello all, As you may have seen, the Open Education Conference has announced an election process to form a Board of Directors that will assume leadership of the conference in order to guide it’s future as a sustainable, community-owned event. The conference has launched a community election process to select six new members for the Board of Directors, who will serve two-year terms starting in January 2022. An English translation of a 1918 work by German veterinary anatomist Dr. Hermann Baum, The Lymphatic System of the Dog details a comprehensive investigation of the anatomy and drainage patterns of the canine lymphatic system.
